Carlton house

I worked for Mr Gabriel at Carlton House in 1969 and 1970, as assistant to Rita Baggs his PA. in those days of course I wouldnt dream of calling him Ralph. This was my first job and I was totally in awe of him, although Rita and I would sometimes dance in our office using his bowler, kept on the stand in our office, as a prop. Once we heard him coming down the long corridor , Rita threw the hat which was still spinning on the coat rack as he entered. There was a slight lift of eyebrows and a very slight twitch of a lip as he walk passed us into his office. I was delighted to read in Peter's book that he went home and stood on his head, I was sure there was another man to the very reserved one I knew. At that time he was finalising the dial-a-programme system and he let us watch coverage of the moon landing in 1969 on the colour telly in his office. I left to have my son, in those days I couldn't be seen on the directors floor in that condition! I was delighted to read he had such a long and happy life.
